After attending a birthday party in Nueva Ecija, we decided to visit Minalungao National Park. The park covers an area of 2,018 hectares located in the Municipality of General Tinio, Nueva Ecija in Central Luzon. The main attraction there is the scenic Penaranda River bordered on both sides by a up to 16-meter high limestone.

GETTING THERE

If you are coming from Manila, you may take a Cabanatuan bound bus and then get off at Gapan, City Nueva Ecija. From there you may hire a tricycle to Brgy. Tinio and then hire another tricycle to Minalungao national Park. We were on a private car driven by a local from Nueva Ecija, so I do not have any idea how to get there by a private car.

IS IT WORTH VISITING?

YES, BUT visit as soon as possible. The local government has done a good job promoting the place but in my opinion, the natural beauty of the park is taken for granted. I don’t see a point of constructing a hotel or a restaurant or whatever facility they are trying to construct beside the river and on top of the rock formations, they could have built it somewhere farther. Minalungao is National Park, let us conserve it.
